The Royal Australian Navy Ship the HMAS Sydney sailed right up to
a German raider in the Indian ocean and was sunk. The loss of life, some 647 souls was higher than Australia suffered in the Korean or in the Vietnam war. This has been truly the stuff of Zombie legends that chase rational people into hiding.

The question was raised "What is the difference between making something up and assuming something for which there is no evidence?" To my surprise, people in my sphere have a difference in their mind ( it is certainly not in my way of thinking ). The logic goes like this you make something up on the fly and hope you can get onto the next situation, while assumption without evidence ( I will denote as AWE or awesome logic) is something that lets you think in a certain way and convince people around you, there is not the immediate fear of being unmasked. There you have it, I am only relaying the gossip on the street here.

Who would have known Australians didn't win WWI by breaching the Hindenburg line? I am embarrassed to confide in you that this is still put forward today by local media.

I really enjoyed this chapter as it explained things in a simple way so as to see that it was a large group effort in which although we played a part with considerable determination, was just a part of a bigger picture. Not only did I learn a lot, I became aware of how we structure our domestic narrative to reinforce the myth at the expense of more complex nuanced understanding that we would expect of an educated nation.

Practical Projects Update - 1

Here we look at the practical aspects of making Glenbrook the center of the Trillionth scale galaxy. In involves placing a 1 mm size ball bearing in the visitors centre and siting Alpha Centauri A B and C, Sirus and Betelgeuse in various localities using my new favorite unit the Peta meter of Pm. This handy unit which is a thousand trillion meters works wonders and sounds like Peter meters. Any how the Google Earth layout is included in the blog post supporting the podcast.

Then the subtleties of the Einstein pendulum of the Universe. I've knocked up the concept model and come across some of the first practical design considerations of this simplest but at the same time most profound of experiments.

This is a pleasant surprise as it is delightfully written. The shock comes right at the end for me as a Nobel prize has been awarded for the discovery of navigation grid cells in the brain. There are a few loose ends sprinkled through out the article such as why people with a better sense of smell are better navigators.

DNA brain dump

Lydia Fairchild, although I could not remember her name for the podcast is a truly fascinating entry point for a review of all things DNA. This lass and I understand a few other Americans actually failed her DNA maternity test!

I had swallowed the line that we had sequenced the entire human genome, and it was made official by Clinton's had shake and broad smile at another US first. But it turns out that 96% is the new 100% and we are not quite there yet for humans or as I read Wikipedia any mammal. Apparently I learn that I am gullible.

The molecular character of the Nucleic acid with oxygen missing really "springs" to life. Watery products shoot out of this oily molecule, I love it all.
