Cosmos Magazine Reading with Commentary - How big is the Universe?

I read this really well written article by Cathal O'Connell. The general idea is brain rest after a period of sickness. I struggled with 400,000 year age where I remembered 380,000 from:

" When it originated some 380,000 years after the Big Bang—this time is generally known as the "time of last scattering" or the period of recombination or decoupling—the temperature of the universe was about 3000 K."

found in Wikipedia but I remember other sources. To be fair it probably took some time.

Of interest to me the image processing to take out the doppler shift from the CMB and the analysis of the bumps in the power spectrum Fourier frequency analysis of the CMB to support the inflation model.

The Planck data is so good it brings a tear to the eye.....

This all came out while I was sick, so I haven't yet read articles explaining what it means for inflation, cosmic strings and measures of dark matter/energy. We live in truly wondrous times.
