Wonders of the Night Sky_3-7

3 planet conjunctions, Summer and winter Milky Way (found this interesting + estimates of the number of stars) Andromeda I must admit was a rather disappointing description given what we know, I had 2.3 rather than 2.5 million light years in my memory banks but it was interesting to hear the closing velocity. I felt the collisions dynamics would have been more interesting to explore and link it to how we eventually formed a disk in the first place. I think the rotation of both Galaxies, MW and A would have been good to mention and also to link it with its other name M31 as a messiner object. Hearing about the big dipper and Ursula major was interesting as I it is only visible from the Northern hemisphere, but I have had people confidently pointing these objects out to me here in Sydney and then to be told I shouldn't be seen as a smart arse (this is before I get at chance to question them). Well I do find the difference between Constellations and Asterisms a bit of cultural snobbery which is hard to bear. Ultimately you would have to say the ancients where insanely stupid. The mind boggles at the number of children who would have been told over the centuries to shut up an listen to wise words which are so transparently stupid.
