We have the medieval Arab scientists and the orgin of modern mathematics with place value modern numbers and algebra. Then there is Leonardo da Vinci, I found it was interesting that there was a misfitting relationship with his mother as was with Newton. I can imagine why he wrote into his notebooks as there really wasn't a receptive world outside. The father of modern anatomy was rather special sleeping with corpses early on and then living the high life later. Nic Copernicus was interesting in that he came at the problem of the geocentric cosmos from a theoretical and not observational stand point retaining the key idea that the heavens must be full of orbs(featureless spheres) and move on strict circles (there was no idea of gravity). I like how it was the Lutherans that really held the work back. I am disappointed in the wrap up of science that we dont get to here of the English Bacons, Thomas and Francis or Nicholas du Cusa.
