This is at times brilliant and times just doesn't reach a semblance of scientific understanding.

The understanding of how solar winds create resonant molecular emissions is, I think, a statement of the paucity of our education system that we can allow such poor understanding to be waved through. There are several things at work here. Firstly an ion current generates its own containment field leading to streamers and in the event of higher pressures lightening bolts. Secondly the cross section for collision goes up by 1 000 to 100 000 times when the atom or molecule has a poorly held electron that can't radiate due to quantum symmetry that make such transition forbidden. That is rather than the atom or molecule losing energy and the critical unit of angular momentum by changing shape to the ground state, it changes to a shape like the ground state only with additional energy. The similarity in shape means the option of folding in on itself a second time is not there as it is the wrong symmetry. Hence you get the polar lights and get to feel the quantum mechanics as a planetary immersive experience.

A little bit of info about it taking a 'Moonth' for the moon to travel around the earth. Further more a week is a quarter moonth and thus two weeks is pretty standard for the minimum rearrangement of conjunctions line ups to occur might not have gone astray here.

It goes like this I understand. At sunset, the greater atmospheric depth means that there is a dramatic removal of blue light ie the rose or reddish colour that you see. Then the atmosphere has a refractive index or in other words a factor by which it slows the light down. So diamond with a refractive index 0f 2.42 slows the light down by 2.42, What happens is that light itself does not slow down but the electrons in the lattice absorb the lights resonate and reradiate it. It like having a running race with breath checks at sufficient time that the whole race loses speed. Now if there is a temperature and density gradient, or a moisture gradient you will form a mirage or planar wave guide that will work at the precise refractive index, and the sun will launch light into the wave guide. However due to the absorption bands of both water and air the blue green end is closer to the resonance that is tying up the light and will be guided to your eyes.

My reflection on all of this is where understanding is lacking we the human race can fill in the gaps with lateral thinking. This leads to joining the dots to make pictures in the sky and explain why so and so should live a fantastically wealthy life while you are enslaved. RLT random lateral thinking is a kind of an intellectual place holder, so we can focus on one thing at a time. It is a tool, but for some it has become a prison.
