Weird Science

These experiments can so easily be done at school. It is a bit like Doctor Who in which ordinary objects are connected together and the Doctor mutters gibberish and then extraordinary things happen.

The key one (of a few) here is the Bunsen in the centre of a 1 m copper rod. Heat is swept up the rod by an electric current. Down stream from the flame the temperature is lower than the corresponding point upstream from the flame.
