Who would have known Australians didn't win WWI by breaching the Hindenburg line? I am embarrassed to confide in you that this is still put forward today by local media.
I really enjoyed this chapter as it explained things in a simple way so as to see that it was a large group effort in which although we played a part with considerable determination, was just a part of a bigger picture. Not only did I learn a lot, I became aware of how we structure our domestic narrative to reinforce the myth at the expense of more complex nuanced understanding that we would expect of an educated nation.
